As the first marketing hire at a high-growth VC-backed B2B tech startup, I was responsible for building everything from the ground up: defining the brand, crafting the messaging, developing content, generating leads, and setting up scalable systems. Like many early-stage teams, we had no roadmap, just ambition and urgency.

It was intense, scrappy, and full of trial and error. Along the way, I made plenty of mistakes, but I also learned what works when time, budget, and resources are limited. builtbyvis is my way of paying that experience forward. I share the frameworks, lessons, and tools I wish I had back then, so that other founders can move faster, make better decisions, and build their marketing function with clarity from day one.

Vis holds a BSc from King’s College and an MSc from Imperial College. Following research at the renowned Royal School of Mines within the Steven’s Lab, he transitioned into the commercial side of biotech to help bridge the gap between science and market impact. As the first marketing hire at a VC-backed B2B tech startup, Vis built the marketing function from the ground up: leading product positioning, content strategy, and operations. With a lean team and limited resources, he drove over £2+ million in sales pipeline, demonstrating how focused, strategic marketing can unlock real growth in early-stage ventures.
